This is a very traditional design for a country manse. The palette is simple, almost monochromatic, with a two-story lime-washed brick core flanked by one-story wings with wood siding. A breezeway connects the house to a three car garage.
All the siding and trim work is executed in painted cedar. The shutters are wood and mounted on operable cast iron hardware. The foundation is Tennessee fieldstone and the roof is western red cedar. Copper gutters and downspouts complement the color of the roof. The stone pavers are Sequatchie Gray fieldstone.
The house perches at the edge of a terraced hilltop, which allows for a full daylight basement at the rear. While the main level has a 14 foot deep screened porch in rear, the lower level enjoys a covered terrace of equal depth which spills out into a lawn and pool area.
The pool house is framed using oak timbers harvested on site. It includes a large fireplace, outdoor kitchen, dining area, as well as a full bath and pool equipment room.
